New Hooked Rugs-Homeplace Primitive~Sunnie-Jan 30

Now working on the lower center.

I decided to put the “homeplace” logo in the center or the rug.  the new little dog in the family is a curly black poodle mix…and I thought that the black dog in the dk. brown background would put a dark spot in the rug center.  So I chose the homeplace logo!!  ; )  Now to fiddle with it!!!  : )  Here’s the full rug…

A closer look…I will see if the little vine above the “homeplace” does anything after getting the rest of the background hooked.  I may take it out or put something else there….or just fill it in!!!!  LOL

Happy Hooking!!  : )   More snow!!!  : )

New Hooked Rug – Homeplace Primitive – Sunnie~Jan 28

More progress on the Homeplace Primitive!!  : )  I am filling in the little flowers and the background.  The border is finished except for checking for “holidays”…and I will do that on the whole rug when I finish hooking!  Then to the steaming and drying!!!!!    As you can see, I’ve done some flowers a little “dull” and some bright so that they all don’t look the same over the whole rug!  and I love the plaid grass!!!  : )

I left the bottom center of the rug until last as I’m not sure what I’ll put there.  Could be more flowers, could be the word “homeplace”, could be the new doggie in the family…gotta think about it!!!  LOL

Perhaps you can see it a little better now…where I have used the lighter strips of the plaid above the dogs and the darker strips below!  I also finished the outline and like it better so the Golden doesn’t fade into the grass!!!  : )  I also think it brings this dog a bit “forward” in the view!  : )

JoJo asked about the plaid I was using for the “grass” around the dogs.  I love using plaids because they have such interesting variations as we hook them.  Below is the plaid I am using.

I’m not sure if you can tell…but I used the plaid strips with the darker strips of the plaid below the dogs and the lighter strips of the plaid above the dogs.  : )

Also, can you see at the top of the golden dog’s head (also around the tail) how his colour kinda blends into the background grass?  I decided to use a piece of my hand-dyed wool in a darker colour to outline the dog for more contrast between the dog and grass.  Also, the outlining gives a “larger” look to the dog and the golden actually is larger than the black and white dog!  : )
