New Hooked Rug – Day 6 ~Helen’s Tapestry

Yahoo!!!  I’m really having fun now!!!!!!  LOL    I’ve stopped trying to do what is impossible on this pattern and having a wonderful time redesigning the motifs for a wider cut and choosing colours that are deep and delightful to work with!  Today I redid the tiger face and I think he looks more like cat!!  : )  I also did some background and started the tree by the cat.  I’m using autumn colours for the leaves and just doing them randomly.   I also worked a bit more on the border!  : )

Hooray!  I’m really proud of my tiger cat now…it wasn’t easy to rework his face but I’m glad I did!   : ) It actually is fun to see if I can give the illusion of the features so they are pleasing!!!   I think he’s a gentle tiger!!! : )

I’m really having a great time now!!!  I love working in the folk art style…it just comes naturally!  So I’m redesigning as I go and I think this is going to be a really enjoyable rug!!!  Sometimes an unexpected start to a project or a mistake when a company sends your order ends up not being so terrible after all!!!!  LOL

I thought you might like to see the changes on the cat face closer!!  Here are the before and after pictures!!

Happy Fourth of July tomorrow!!   Enjoy!!

I am a folk artist now living in Vancouver, Washington. We loved our Vermont "Old Crow Farm" but now I live in a little cottage with a bright yellow front door! I no longer have my business but still love designing and hooking rugs and experimenting with colour...! I do "mystery rugs" on my Blog and that is great fun!

  1. Gosh, Sunnie, I miss visiting your site for a few days and come see what you’re doing and WOW! I am amazed at the progress you’ve made! Way to go! You are one brave hooker, that’s for sure. Taking on this huge project and then totally making it your own. YAY! I’ll be watching.

  2. Sunnie, you’re doing a stunning job, as usual. I can ‘hear’ the relief in your post when you said that you’ve stopped fighting with the pattern and are redesigning for a wider cut.

I’m sorry I haven’t posted sooner but I’ve been pushing on the rehab of my leg/knee this week and it’s been causing a lot more pain. And the pain makes sitting for any length of time difficult.

But ooohh, how I love coming here and seeing your progress! What a delight you are!

  3. Hi Jacque, JoJo and Gene! Thank you so much for the encouragement! It means a lot to me!! : )

I am really enjoying this now…and having a great time! This may turn out to be one of my favourite rugs!!! LOL I can always do a fine cut some other time! : )

Hope you all had a lovely 4th of July and JoJo, I hope your pain goes away fast and soon!!!!! : )

Hugs to all, Sunnie ; )
