New Hooked Rug – Day 14 ~ Helen’s Tapestry

Today I worked on background water around the lion, reworked the lion and did some background on the right side.   (I also put a few “apples” or “fruit” in reds to add a bit of colour to the tree that the lion is sleeping in!!! ) I also introduced a deep teal/turquoise for the leaves on the lion’s tree. ..just to have a subtle change of colour to add interest.

I might have to fiddle with the water on this new pond…but I’ll hook some more and then see if I need to change the direction of the water or????

Now I need to decide on the colours for the woman’s clothing…and decide what I’m going to do with the water around the elephant’s feet!!!  LOL

I adjusted the colours on the lion and made him sleeping peacefully so the other animals wouldn’t worry!!!!  : )

It’s zipping right along!!!  : )   However, I might decide to go back and start the borders from the bottom up now that I have some of the center section hooked and have made decisions about what my colour palette is.  Then I can go back to the center section and that great elephant!  : )

(If I were doing it in the #3 cut, I’d still be doing the deer at the bottom of the rug!!! ) LOL

Happy Hooking!  Sunnie  : )

I am a folk artist now living in Vancouver, Washington. We loved our Vermont "Old Crow Farm" but now I live in a little cottage with a bright yellow front door! I no longer have my business but still love designing and hooking rugs and experimenting with colour...! I do "mystery rugs" on my Blog and that is great fun!

  1. The lion has turned out really well considering the problems you were expecting with the detail. I just love looking at this, can only imagine what it must be like in the flesh
