New Hooked Rug – Day 18 ~ Helen’s Tapestry

Today I worked on the black background around the elephant and fiddled with the flowers/bush on the upper left side!    However, I think the large flower looks a bit like the elephant has used it “for a bathroom” (to put it delicately!!!)  LOL  Especially considering his tail and leg position which is just as it is on the pattern.  So I think I will do that  flower over!!!  (And maybe the tail too!!)   : )  As you know, sometimes when you are working closely on something it looks fine…but when you take a picture or step farther away, you can see it doesn’t work well!!!! ( I decided to photograph it and show you what I mean before taking it out! )  LOL

I must say that I get to giggling to myself over how some of the motifs look.  For instance, I didn’t put the tuft of “grass” behind the drinking deer in the lower pond because it gave the impression of deer droppings!  When we are doing animals or people, it is a wise thing to look at the rug carefully before it is displayed at a large rug show and everyone is noticing the unfortunate image!!!  : )

It’s a beautiful day today so I’m going to do a few more things before sitting at the hooking frame again!!

Have a lovely day!!  Happy Hooking!  Sunnie  : )

I am a folk artist now living in Vancouver, Washington. We loved our Vermont "Old Crow Farm" but now I live in a little cottage with a bright yellow front door! I no longer have my business but still love designing and hooking rugs and experimenting with colour...! I do "mystery rugs" on my Blog and that is great fun!

  2. It’s more beautiful every day and every time I come to look at it. Now I’ll wait for tomorrow so I can see what you changed with the elephant’s tail and the flower.

  3. Your tapestry is looking wonderful.
Thank you for linking me to your blog, I finally figured out how to link you to mine.
Will continue to watch as you complete this tapestry.
