New Hooked rug – Day 49 ~ Helen’s Tapestry

Today, I have a treat for you!!  After many weeks of looking and searching the internet, etc. with no success,  my “Wool Sister”, Alice,  saw the fine cut version of this “Helen’s Tapestry” rug at a rug show and took a picture for me!  : )  To see it,  please click on “A Day in the Life Of…Alice” on my Blog List on the right!

It shows how the pattern looks when done just as it’s printed!  : )

Today, I filled in the green grass on the right and hooked a couple of “flowers”.  Not the correct colours yet but holding the space!!!  : )

Although you can’t see them, I have hooked the “flowers” on the upper right with colours very close in value to the grass…just to hold the space… because I want to do the seated figure (above) colours first.  I think the flowers might end up being purple or light burgundy…we’ll see!!  LOL

I’m still hooking away!!!!  Hooray!!!  : )

Happy Hooking!  : )

I am a folk artist now living in Vancouver, Washington. We loved our Vermont "Old Crow Farm" but now I live in a little cottage with a bright yellow front door! I no longer have my business but still love designing and hooking rugs and experimenting with colour...! I do "mystery rugs" on my Blog and that is great fun!

  1. The other rug is stunning but I like yours better! The other is too pale (the colors all wash toghether) and too fussy. Yours feels more vibrant and has a lovely folk art quality to it. If I had the other rug in my home, I would be wondering when Louis XVI was going to walk through the door!! LOL!

  2. Sunnie ~ I agree with Jennifer ~ yours is much more to my liking but then again, there is something for everybody!! Isn’t it great that Helen’s Tapestry was at the show, so everyone can see?? We’re watching yours develop into a beautiful piece of folk art!! Hook on, Wool Sister!!!!
