New Hooked Rug – Day 64 ~ Helen’s Tapestry

Worked on the center today…the bunny and backgrounds…also the tree on the right side.  I tried hooking the seated figure under the tree but in the wider cut it just looked like a blob to me!!!!  LOL  so I will probably put some flowers or grasses there.  Also, I’ll need to tweak the bunny and adjust things so they look more “finished” as I go along.

Happy Hooking!  : )

  1. Good Morning Miss Sunnie ~ It won’t be long now ~ you’re on the homestretch!! You were absolutely right to add a tail to that birdie ~ he does look finished now!! You’ve done a great job with all that detailed work ~ so you’ve made the ‘seated figure’ into a flower ~ that works, too!!

On the next big rug that I do, I’m going to try your approach of doing the border as I go! I sort of did that toward the end of the Catfish rug due to your writings ~ for one thing it saves putting the rug on and off the frame so much and when you get to the end of the rug ~ you really are at the end!!! Thanks for all your good tips!! Have a good day!

  2. Hello dear Alice! : )

You are always so supportive and encouraging!!! : )

I’m getting closer and closer to the “finish line”. (That’s the line where either the rug or I get “finished”!!!) LOL

I always wondered why people left the backgrounds and borders for last…but I was such a new hooker three years ago that I thought maybe that was what you were “supposed” to do!!! LOL

I got out of that notion pretty fast…and I decided, after reading lots of books and reading lots of internet posts by rug hookers, that I would just do what I wanted to do and not worry about what was “right” or “correct” !!! Just what was right for me!!! : ) Thank goodness…or I’d be tearing my hair out trying to please everyone!!!! LOL

I guess I’m a lazy hooker…but I want always to do the easiest, most comfortable, most fun and most logical methods for each rug I do! : ) Hooray!!!

Hugs to you, Sunnie : )

  3. It’s looking wonderful, Sunnie! And I have learned from you. I’m finishing a rug now and, as I “thought” I was supposed to do, I left the background for last. Now it looks like a huge task. I’ll never, ever do that again. The background will be done, in the future, as the motifs are hooked.

I too like the more finished look of the duck that ‘grew’ a tail. It’s perfect, as are the flowers that took the place of the person under the tree.

You’re getting so close to being done.

  4. JoJo ~ look what you and I have learned from Miss Sunnie!!! Wish all lessons were learned so easily!!! When the student is ready ~ the teacher appears!!
Have a good day, girls! I am in the dye pots!!!

  5. Hooray!! We’re gonna see a “multicoloured” Alice tomorrow!!!!! : ) I wonder what colours her feet will be!!!! LOL

Isn’t it fun…although my dear Husband says it always gives him a twinge when I brightly say..”I’m gonna dye today”!!! LOL

Happy Hookin’ and Dyin’!!! Sunnie : )
