Hooking Finished on this rug…thought you might like to see it!
While I am edge-whipping the Homeplace Primitive rug for the finishing, I am also working on this funny rug called “T-Time! : ) LOL
(I can only work whipping the edge of the rug with the wool yarn for an hour or so at a time as it bothers my arm and shoulders – doing the repetitive motion!!)
This rug is an original design and was created by using my “Creative Cutting” technique. You take several sheets of copy paper (newspaper, scrap paper, etc.) and simply cut out shapes without drawing anything on the paper!!! Take the shapes, lay them out on your rug backing and move them around until a design idea emerges!!!
Use some or all of your shapes and add others to complete your idea!! It’s great fun and gets your creative juices flowing!!! Also, you can just choose your first colour and decide if your background will be dark or light! Then just go for it and try out colours and techniques you’ve wanted to use but haven’t attempted before. : ) (proddy, using yarns, etc.)
For this funny rug, I was trying out shading on the green leaves and hooking a face with the wider cuts of wool. also not using “regular” face colours!!! Her goofy boots started out as leaf shapes but I turned them into shoes!
When you want to do something fun…try this technique. (and post a picture for us to see what you came up with!!!
Happy Hooking! Sunnie : )
That is a great idea, Thank You.
You are welcome, Corinne…I hope you find it great fun!!!
Hugs, Sunnie ; )
What a fun rug, love it. I am behind on my large rug, sitting at a floor frame is too much when I was sick, so need to get back to it.
