Dark Bouquet Hooked Rug/border finished! – Rug Hooking

I had a chance to hook quite a bit yesterday morning with our “First Saturday-in-the-Month” hooking group!!!  And then, more time last night and this morning…so I decided to finish the border before posting!!  🙂  I’m trying to get my “do-over” rug finished so I can start on my Mystery rug.  Looking forward to having fun with the new project too!!!  LOL

Here I am so far. ..on the Dark Bouquet..

I decided to use the dark plum for the border so it would be a little darker than my background wool and set off the center.  I thought that the gold and red dividing lines would make the transition and just a little corner motif would complete the frame.   Since this is a plain and simple rug, I thought any more border decoration or a lighter colour  (red, gold, green) would draw more attention to the border than I wanted.  I want the eye to focus on the yellowware mug and flowers!

Happy Hooking!  Sunnie  😉

I am a folk artist now living in Vancouver, Washington. We loved our Vermont "Old Crow Farm" but now I live in a little cottage with a bright yellow front door! I no longer have my business but still love designing and hooking rugs and experimenting with colour...! I do "mystery rugs" on my Blog and that is great fun!

  1. It was nice to see you yesterday !! I love the rug and the colors are perfect. Never though of using the dark plum for a border with browns .

  2. How I wish I could see the rug in person. It looks beautiful and I like the dark colors, something like my own grandmother would have liked. Is this for the floor or wall? JB

  3. I think it will be for the floor, Julia. In our old house, I like to use the darker colours on the floor…this is a small “over 100-year-old” farmhouse that is not very grand!!!!! So I like the “Grandma-type” rugs for here!!
    Hugs, Sunnie 😉
