Mystery 24 Rug Progress- Day 7/ Sunnie – Rug Hooking

I hope everyone who is doing the 24 challenge on RHDaily is having  as much fun as I am!!!!!!     🙂  (And Happy Valentine’s Day to Everyone!!!!)

I’m glad to be doing this design…it is interesting for me, gives me a chance to go through lots of small pieces of wool and leftovers that I can find now that I am better organized (!!) and I love the colours!!!

I have actually come across another design that I could adapt for a companion to this rug…so I might do that later on!   It could be in the 24 x 24 challenge too.

I think I have said before that I get my inspiration from many sources!  I love to check out art books, books on Fraktur, embroidery, tapestry, needlepoint, quilting, drawing, clip art…so many things!!!  I check out these things online too.  Sometimes going to a poster site or an art site gives me ideas.  We don’t have to copy…but get ideas for our own work.  I love the permission-free books like Dover books or the free patterns online for everything from knitting to embroidery to clip art. .. any or all of these can spark an idea.  Of course,  the beauty of nature is there for us to see when we step outside or take a wonderful vacation!  I like looking at rugs from the 1800’s too…and we can use designs from the public domain or from permission-free sources without fear of copyright infringement.   I like to take ideas from many sources, add my own sketches and designs and create a rug that is my own!!!  What fun!!!   LOL

And…if we want to hook the designs of others, we have so many great teachers and rug designers , past and present, whose patterns we can buy and enjoy the hooking!!!!

Here is Day 7…

Hmmmm….I wonder if it is getting clearer now?  LOL  🙂   Well, it is to me…(!!)…but I do have a view of the whole rug!!!!

Sunshine here today in Vermont and warmer weather.  I’m going up to the studio to do more hooking, sorting, organizing and stuff!!!!!  (Maybe mostly “stuff”!!!!)      Happy Hooking!  Sunnie  😉

I am a folk artist now living in Vancouver, Washington. We loved our Vermont "Old Crow Farm" but now I live in a little cottage with a bright yellow front door! I no longer have my business but still love designing and hooking rugs and experimenting with colour...! I do "mystery rugs" on my Blog and that is great fun!
