New Mystery Rug-“E or R”-Aug 2016-Sunnie/rug hooking/hooked rugs-Day 12

“We thought we saw symbols and signs in the night air.   And we tried to tell each other what they meant.”

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Here we go again…!!!!   On Day 12.

I am working on the lower part of the rug heading towards the center.   Again, I am using a blending of several dark/black background wools with some of the dark green tucked in here and there.   And Hooray!   Another insect…I needed that.

I am redesigning this part of the rug as I go because some of the design sketched on the linen is simply “suggestion”…and I need to put in or take out anything that does not go with what I have already done!    🙂

One idea can lead to another and can expand a theme already started.   Researching the meaning of certain motifs is fun for me…although it might not be important to anyone else.   When I did my rug celebrating Joe and me ( and our wedding year), I put in a lot of symbolic things that a person would not necessarily notice or care about unless I pointed them out.   The meanings weren’t necessary to see the rug as a design!   But they are fun for me to see and enjoy…and to remember.

So here is Progress on Day 12…I am having fun trying to figure out what this rug will look like when finished…!!!      Who knows!

Happy Hooking!    Sunnie   🙂

I am a folk artist now living in Vancouver, Washington. We loved our Vermont "Old Crow Farm" but now I live in a little cottage with a bright yellow front door! I no longer have my business but still love designing and hooking rugs and experimenting with colour...! I do "mystery rugs" on my Blog and that is great fun!
