New Mystery Rug-FO -Nov 2016/Sunnie/rug hooking/hooked rugs-Day 1

Well…here we go again on a new Mystery rug!   🙂

Another experiment combining motifs from Celtic manuscripts, from the 1500’s and from the 10th century.   I have added some papercutting and drawings of my own to the mix and this rug will be approx 22 x 33 if I don’t change and enlarge it a bit!

I am using #3, #4, #5 and #6 cuts on this one and here is the plaid wool I am using for the major background.   It “reads” as a solid with little flecks of colour and I love it…!   It is a bit darker than what this photo shows.   fobackgrounda

Of course, the motifs are adapted a bit from the originals but I have tried to keep the flavour of what I love about them!   They are quirky and whimsical…very appealing to me!   🙂

Also, besides enjoying the experimenting with colour and motifs, I am again setting up a piece where there is openness for several interpretations of the title.   Not as “far out” as my “Enigma” piece…but a bit mysterious in itself.

This is just the start but I am already enjoying this piece and hope you will enjoy traveling this hooking journey with me too!   So here we are on Day 1 of “FO”…Happy Hooking!   Sunnie   🙂

I am a folk artist now living in Vancouver, Washington. We loved our Vermont "Old Crow Farm" but now I live in a little cottage with a bright yellow front door! I no longer have my business but still love designing and hooking rugs and experimenting with colour...! I do "mystery rugs" on my Blog and that is great fun!
