New Mystery Rug starting Soon! -“WTTPG”-Sunnie/rug hooking/hooked rugs…Hooray!

Well, as usual I had a fun idea for a rug that I thought I’d do next…and I picked out a background wool that I wanted to use.

However…as I was spending a pleasant day just relaxing after Christmas, I was enjoying looking through my Art books, Quilt books, rug books, Stitchery books and looking online at ancient art, tapestries and mosaics!

And you know what happened…!!!!!   I saw a little motif in the border of a large and ornate tapestry and all of a sudden an idea popped into my mind for a rug that I’d love to do!   🙂

So instead of the rug I was planning, I put away the background wool and started pulling out colours that I thought would be nice for this new design…(even thought I hadn’t really designed it all yet…!!!!)

I am drawing it on the linen this week and am excited to start on it.   I think it will be about 24 x 40 inches.

So hang on to your hats…WTTPG is in the designing stage and I should be ready to go in a few days.   In the meantime, Mrs. Smoth is still shaking her rolling pin at that noisy rooster in the picture at the top of this Blog…so if you hear any “nighttime noises”, you will know who to blame!

Happy Hooking and Happy New Year too.   Sunnie   🙂

(PS…I will be doing some smaller seasonal rugs too as well as 12 x 12 pillows and other smaller hooked pieces!   I am looking forward to a delightful year of rug hooking with lots of fun designs…!)

I am a folk artist now living in Vancouver, Washington. We loved our Vermont "Old Crow Farm" but now I live in a little cottage with a bright yellow front door! I no longer have my business but still love designing and hooking rugs and experimenting with colour...! I do "mystery rugs" on my Blog and that is great fun!

    1. Oh I’ll be doing those too!!!! I’ll be having a lot of fun! I had fun doing the 12 x 12 pillow too so I may do more of them to change seasonally as well as chairpads!!! Hope you had a lovely Christmas! Happy Hooking! Sunnie 🙂

      1. Not a very good Christmas as we put our dog down after 14 years. We are both missing him everywhere. Winter is so long…

      2. Oh I am so sorry to hear this Carole! I know how it feels as I had to have my cat, Cassie, put to sleep in 2015…at almost 18 years old. She had been with Joe and me for a long time and moved out here to the West coast with me after Joe died. I was so glad to have her with me…she brought me comfort. I still miss her. Hugs, Sunnie 🙂

  1. Wow, you’re on a roll. You will have a very prolific year of rug hooking.
I spent the afternoon looking at my daughter Nicole CDs of pictures and movies of her travels across many countries and it was so nice but when I was all done I felt a bit of sadness overtake me.
I still don’t feel the pull of the wool worms yet.

    Happy Hooking,
    Julia

    1. I know what you mean, Julia. I enjoy thinking about my life with Joe and going through pictures…but it is always bittersweet. Thankfully, we do have those wonderful memories to carry with us. Hugs, Sunnie 🙂
