Lady Nesta Birdwhistle-2018/Sunnie/hooked rugs/rug hooking/folkart-Day 2

Well I have gotten a bit more done on Lady Nesta!!!   I thought she needed flowers so I have started using small leftover pieces and leftover woolworms for that purpose!!

I decided to try an experiment with hooking the background in straight vertical lines.   Here are the two plaids I am using.

I had several odd pieces of these wools so decided to use them…trying to use up the plaid on the left and adding in only the lighter parts of the plaid on the right so that I am sure to have enough for the whole background…!    (I have said before that I Always have blending wools available to use in backgrounds as I don’t want to be bothered figuring out how much wool I need, etc.   If I have blending wools, I know I always have enough background wool so I don’t have to “worry”!)

The gray background also adds a funny twist as it will be a little odd for this piece!   The sky Should be beautifully blue with, perhaps, a few light fluffy clouds!!!!    All will become clear later!!!!   🙂

So here is Progress on Day 2…

I am having fun and smiling at the silliness of it all…especially the funny “press release” which will start soon  (and the grumpy looking bird! )

 Happy Hooking!   Sunnie   🙂

I am a folk artist now living in Vancouver, Washington. We loved our Vermont "Old Crow Farm" but now I live in a little cottage with a bright yellow front door! I no longer have my business but still love designing and hooking rugs and experimenting with colour...! I do "mystery rugs" on my Blog and that is great fun!

  1. Oh Sunnie, I can’t figure out where you come up with these crazy stories. lol. You have such a creative streak in you. What fun you must have, creating these silly characters. I honestly think that you should consider writing children’s book where you get paid for having fun. Heck, I’m having fun just reading your post and I can’t wait to see what the press release is all about. I live a boring life of work and no play so this is all delightful to me.
    Hugs, Julia

  3. Elaine and Julia…I can remember making up stories and plays on words, etc. when I was very little. That sense of humor has always been a part of my life…and my Mom and Dad had that too!!! 🙂 I’ve always enjoyed a little silliness in my day…!!!!! Hugs, Sunnie 🙂
