Sunnie Andress Rug Hooking…New Blog/rug hooking/hooked rugs-Pillows, Chairpads

Since I do a lot of “Mystery Rugs” on this blog, I thought I might start posting on a new Blog about smaller items like pillows, chairpads, etc. along with ideas and techniques that have helped me when I was a beginning rug hooker.   Would love to have you visit…and happy too have you comment too!   🙂

I also thought I might try hooking a small rug or design where you can actually see what I am doing (!!!)   🙂   I did this many years ago and people seemed to enjoy it.

A “mystery” rug is, of course, a mystery so you can’t see the design as I hook it.   But I thought I might enjoy showing some experiments and , perhaps, changes that I make to the pieces…and that could be on the “sister” Blog.

Also, I have a Blog that I did a very long time ago when I hardly knew what I was doing.   I will try to take some of the content from that blog that hasn’t been used for a very long time.   It might be helpful to someone…and the work was more primitive too.

The link is on the “Links” list (BLOGROLL) to the right…AA “Sunnie Andress Rug Hooking”

Hope you are staying either cool or warm this Summertime.   I am ready for the hot weather to be over!!!!   Happy Hooking!   Sunnie   🙂

New Mystery Rug-“LittleTT”-Sunnie/rug hooking/hooked rugs-Day 7

LittleTTDay7ext - Copy

I am patting myself on the back as I am working on the “edge-finishing” of my 3rd rug since I started my “mystery rug” a week or so ago!!!   🙂   I have to make myself stop hooking and get out the yarn so that I can finish at least 5 rugs in this session.   After that, I’ll do any others from time to time as I usually do!!!

I am happy at how this funny little piece is turning out…and I am using a Lot of leftover woolworms!!!!   That is always a plus but it isn’t easy finding these colours!   However, I did find lights to use in the background and I had a few small pieces of wool to cut up and use too…so the background isn’t any problem.

Not anything too exciting today as I am doing background…and for tomorrow I will make a change and start hooking another silly bird!!!!

So here we go on Progress on Day 7…Happy Hooking!   Sunnie  🙂

New Mystery Rug-“Little TT”-Sunnie/Rug hooking/hooked rugs-Day 2

Well away we go on Day 2!!!   As I said in the “comments” section, hunting for light and bright, kinda “sweet” wools is a real hunt for me.   I have so many wools that are more earthy, primitive and deep colours.   But I am finding some nice colours and this small piece is fun and a little goofy!   (Why are you not surprised…!!!)

I am anxious to get more of the pattern finished as I want to see just how it looks in my wall spot.   I had thought to buy something to fit in that place but thought this would be more fun to do!

So here we go on Day 2…Happy Hooking!  Sunnie  🙂

New Mystery Rug-Little TT-Sunnie/Rug hooking Hooked rugs-Day 1

I just couldn’t wait to get hooking again (!!!) but I am trying to edge-finish several rugs that I did last year!   However, I have a place for a small piece for the wall in my new cottage home…so I sketched this out and will do it along with my boring edge-finishing!!!!!   …lol…

TFT1Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?????   🙂

I have so much wool that is prim, autumn or darker colours that finding small pieces for this hooking is rather difficult.   But I’ll use as many leftovers as I can…good for the “Great DE-Worming Group too!!!!!

Hope everyone is well and feeling great…and… getting back to hooking after the Holidays!   Here we go!!!!

Happy Hooking!  Sunnie  🙂

(Special Note:   Elaine was asking about the “Little Allerton” rug pattern that I hooked in 2010.   It is a pattern from the House of Price, designed by Jane McGown Flynn.   It is about 24 x 36)

Here is the photo…

I thought you might enjoy seeing where I can place my rug in my Living room.   The Bradley Primitive rug is under the coffee table now and, of course, it goes well with my “little old lady” furnishings!!   …lol…

HomeBradleyBut I have three places where I can put my Old Crow Farm rug when the edge finishing is completed.   Now I know that a “folk art primitive” rug does not “go” with my furniture…but that does not stop Me!!!   I don’t worry about what goes with what…I just decorate with what I like and use colour as a blending medium.

I could replace the Bradley under the coffee table or I could show the OCFarm rug in front of the 2 chairs.

And an even better idea would be to put the rug in the dining room where I have several rugs against one wall of cabinets!   I’ll decide later.

Here is what it might look like in front of the 2 chairs and not only do I have old pictures of my relatives, old needlework and Victorian pictures around…I also have my “lovely” Prince and Princess rug “Can you Believe…One of Them is Wearing Dentures” in the same room!   So you know that my home is certainly “eclectic”!!!!!!    …lol…

Below is the “normal” living room…the cat has her cushions around the place too!   However, she really enjoys sleeping on paper catalogues or plastic bags!!!   I have never known a more eccentric cat (she also loved thunderstorms in Vermont and wanted to go outside on the porch to watch the lightning!)   Now (at going on 19 years) she is rather deaf so seems to have little interest in the rainstorms here!!!!

I’m enjoying getting organized and thinking about my next adventure!   Happy Hooking!  Sunnie  🙂

New Rug “Old Crow Farm”-Magdalena-Style/Sunnie/rug hooking-Day 6

Quick post today!!!   🙂

I decided to do two rows of the burgundy around the edge of the rug and fill in the borders with random squiggles and leftover worms!!!   The right and left borders are a bit wider than the top and bottom ones…just thought that would be nice and use up more woolworms!!!   You can see that I am really serious about cleaning up my wormy bins!!!!   …lol…

It is fun to do the corner “quarter circles”…I think I said before that I drew them in with a straight curve but then just made a wavy curve so it would look looser and more primitive.   (at least to me!!!)

Here is the photo of the lower border…I can use a lot of smaller snippets here!

Pldfarmday6x   And below is my Progress on Day 6…I am going faster than I expected…!  ( Since the flu seems to be rampant and my 18 year old cat needs more care as she declines a bit, I am staying close to home.   It does give me more time to hook…but as you know if you have a treasured pet that is so much a part of the family, it is hard to see them getting older and slower. )

Here is Day 6…I added a scrappy initial too!!!   Happy Hooking!  I hope you are all staying well or recovering well if you have had an illness!   Sunnie  🙂
