Lady Nesta Birdwhistle-mystery rug-2018-Sunnie/rug hooking/hooked rugs/folk art-Day 6

Had fun over the weekend working outside and also taking a little time to hook on Lady Nesta!   🙂

(I chose a lot of my blues and decided to use several of them for some of the bird body feathers.   My husband and I loved bluebirds and this makes me laugh as I hook this large and rather ungainly looking bird in blue and think about the small and beautiful bluebirds that we had around our rural Vermont home.)   🙂

Although I do these funny rugs  because I love “plays on words” and silly situations, etc.  I also laugh at the goofy advertising we get sometimes and the gushing and often ridiculous articles in newspapers and magazines about celebrities !!!     (I showed you my medieval “denture” rug a few posts ago that I changed because of seeing one too many silly denture commercials!!!!)

Now… Do you remember all of the focus on Pippa Middleton’s bottom during coverage of Catherine and Prince William’s royal wedding?    (when she was holding her sister’s train)   And women’s rush to have their “bottoms” plumped up or lifted, etc. to look like hers or those of their favourite stars?   Well, Lady Nesta’s admirers are following that same trend today!!!!!   …lol…

Lady Nesta Birdwhistle article continued:

“…Lady Nesta’s derriere is applauded and envied each time it is photographed!   Many upper class lady birds race to the Justa Swansong Clinic to have their posteriors “lifted” or “enhanced” after seeing photos of Lady Nesta.   (and none of them grouse about the results either!)….(to be continued)

So here is Progress on Day 6…if you had told me years ago that I would be posting pictures of a bird’s back end and writing an article about it, I would not have believed you!!!!!   …lol…   (or maybe I would…with me, you never know!)   🙂   Happy Hooking!   Sunnie   🙂

Hooking a “CHALLENGE” Chairpad-3/2018-Sunnie/rug hooking/hooked chairpads/silly folk art

While I am resting, redecorating my little home for Spring and designing another Mystery Rug, I am working on pieces for a couple of Challenges on the forum Rug Hooking Daily.

By the way, if you are a person interested in rug hooking, joining Rug Hooking Daily is a great place for information, friendship and inspiration.   There is no cost to join and you can get answers for almost all of your rug hooking questions!!!

The “Chairpad Challenge” is in our “GREAT DEWORMING” Group…one of many groups in RHDaily.

Since there are no “rules” for this Challenge…just that it be a chairpad…I thought about doing something for Spring.   Maybe flowers or birds, etc.

BUT…my silly side just came out again while I was looking at a small piece of mottled lavender wool and the bags of my woolworms leftover from other projects…and lavender hair just popped into my head!!!!!   …lol…

Perhaps remembering the scores of “old ladies” that I saw in my childhood (in the 1940’s) with lavender tints in their hair!!!!!!   Now the purple hair is sported by the young and old alike!!!!

Anyway, I thought you might enjoy seeing the silly chairpad as it goes along!

Here we go…Happy Hooking!   Sunnie   🙂
