Lady Nesta Birdwhistle-2018-mystery-Sunnie/hooked rugs/rug hooking/folk art-Day 7

This rug is such fun!!!!    And…I hope to finish the hooking this week too!!!!!

Of course you know that I am not Just having fun but my experiments are teaching me something too.   This rug is dealing with horizontal and vertical lines, strong and weak colours, a border only on the rug top, bright colour placement, outlines on some motifs and not on others, main motif focus and the effectiveness of presenting a theme to the viewer!     The funny twist of the plaids in the background (hooked vertically) looking like rain on the Garden Party just happened while experimenting with these wools.

I had a great time yesterday gardening outside and resting inside while hooking Lady Nesta’s wing!   I thought about what a “high society” bird would ask for when she went to her “feather stylist” (!!!!!)   …lol… and this is the result…!   The new trend is colour and “bling”…so that is what she has!!!

The article continues…

“……….Lady Nesta’s feather stylist, Fowler Cheep, has arranged her fantastic feathers to perfection.   He has added several of the new tints and, of course, “wing bling” to add some sparkle and shine to her magnificent body.   Fowler has also persuaded Lady Nesta to visit his Spa where her remarkable legs show just a light tan over brown.   (Fowler is the son of that incredible stylist, Frank Lee Cheep of CHEEP, CHEEP & MOORE SALON and SPA, the destination of many celebrities and high flyers.)….(to be continued)

So here is Progress on Day 7…I thought about something rather flamboyant for her wing, found some of the “sparkle” blue wool in my leftovers and decided to try a kind of “peacock” look!!!!   …lol…   So this is the result.   Hope you are enjoying your day, wherever in the world you are!!!

 Happy Hooking!   Sunnie   🙂
